Jorge Paredes is an experienced math educator with deep roots in California. He grew up in Southern California and has called the Bay Area home for the past five years. Jorge earned his B.S. in Mathematics from UC Riverside in 2016, then returned to UCR in 2017 to complete their graduate education program. After earning his teaching credential, he enrolled in CSU Fullerton’s Master’s in Mathematics program while beginning to teach full time.
This June, Jorge completed his ninth year of teaching. Over those nine years, he has taught a wide range of courses, from 6th through 8th grade math, Algebra through Calculus, and even a couple of college level courses through Gavilan College. That breadth gives him the flexibility to meet students wherever they are academically and guide them confidently to the next level. Jorge holds himself to very high standards and holds his students to the same, while keeping the learning environment supportive and encouraging. His goal is to help every student build real confidence and lasting skills in mathematics, the kind that pay off long after the next test is over

Talon Payne is a credentialed math teacher, born and raised in California, who currently teaches multiple levels of high school mathematics. His experience with students began well before the classroom, as he tutored his peers throughout his own high school and college years. That background gives him a natural feel for where students get stuck and how to walk them through it. Talon is passionate about learning and problem solving, and he brings an easygoing, approachable style that helps students relax and engage with the material. His goal is for every student to leave a session not just with the right answer, but with a clearer way of thinking about the problem.

Kevin Khuu is entering his eighth year of teaching and works with students of all ages, from early math through Pre-Calculus. His strength is building the fundamentals. Kevin focuses on making sure a student’s foundation is solid before moving forward, so that harder material later on rests on skills they already own rather than gaps they have been working around. Students who have struggled to keep up often find that his patient, step by step approach finally makes the pieces click. Whether a student needs to catch up or wants to get ahead, Kevin meets them where they are and builds them up to the next level with confidence.

Jaxon Green is a passionate mathematics educator with over six years of hands-on experience teaching and supporting math curriculum. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 2023 and his Master’s degree in Mathematics in 2024, both from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. His teaching history includes Cal Poly, Mathnasium, and today, Gavilan College, where he has taught and assisted courses in Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Algebra, and Statistics.
As an educator, Jaxon is invested in helping students build a real sense of ownership over their mathematical ability. He believes every student is capable of reaching their academic goals, regardless of their past experience with math. Through his teaching roles he has developed a tailored approach to instruction, focusing on identifying gaps in conceptual understanding and using each student’s own observations to build intuition. He adapts to each student’s learning style and looks for ways to connect the material to applications that interest them. His goal is for students to feel in control of their learning and confident enough to become independent problem solvers.
